These paintings are all of locations within my local area of Sussex. I spend a lot of time outdoors, often in the early morning, sketching, walking, listening and absorbing the atmosphere of the natural world. With each painting I try to convey the feelings I associate with that particular place and that time of the day. Some are painted in a single day, while some take weeks, but with all of them I hope to capture more than a single snapshot moment; I hope something of the layered moments and memories comes through in the thin overlayed layers of the paint.
